LeBron James of the Lakers is the second player in NBA history to reach 38,000 points in a career.

LeBron James, a forward for the Los Angeles Lakers, reached a higher altitude on Sunday night. James scored in the 113-112 loss for Los Angeles to the Philadelphia 76ers, becoming just the second player in NBA history to reach 38,000 career points. The only other player to ever accomplish this feat is the league’s all-time leading scorer, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

James only needed 11 points going into the game against Philadelphia to hit 38,000, and he did so quite quickly. In the middle of the first quarter, he made the mark with a jump shot.

James ended the game with 35 points, 10 assists, and 8 rebounds, but his performance ultimately wasn’t sufficient to help the Lakers secure a victory.

James is currently fewer than 400 points away from surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time greatest scorer, which is a remarkable accomplishment for anyone, let alone someone who has always viewed himself as a pass-first player. James will pass the great Lakers center later this season, barring any serious injury difficulties. At the beginning of the season, he talked about the forthcoming success.

James stated during media day, “I think it’s just very humbling for myself to sit here and to know that I’m on the cusp of breaking probably the most sought-after record in the NBA, things that people believed would probably never be done. “I think it’s really awesome. Kareem and I obviously disagree on a number of topics, including my opinions and my actions.

But at the end of the day, I think it’s just super-duper dope for myself to even be in that conversation with a person who worn this same uniform, a guy who was a staple of this franchise, along with Magic [Johnson], Big Game [James Worthy] over there for so many years, especially in the ’80s.

Despite not being particularly close, James and Abdul-Jabbar will go down in history as the first two players to reach 38,000 points and the two most prolific scorers the NBA has ever seen.
